Henri Pluquet, qui présidait la CCI de Sens, proposa la création d’un club Kiwanis sur Sens en complément des clubs services existants. Il fut organisé le 29 mars 1979 en présence du Lieutenant Gouverneur Raymond Galland du club de Troyes. Parrainé par le club de Troyes, le club fut « charté » officiellement le 16 mai 1981. La cérémonie se déroula dans les grands salons de l’hôtel de ville de Sens en présence du Gouverneur Jean de Vos et du maire de l’époque, André Chaussat (un des fondateurs de la première heure).
